Wisdom from Meetings

Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself; it means thinking of yourself less often.

You can become anyone you want to be in NA. But I hope who you learn to be is yourself.

I judged myself by my intentions while the world was judging me on my behavior.

Not taking a drink is by far the most important thing I do all day.

There is a bit of good in the worst of us and a bit of bad in the best of us. We are all God’s children.

Acceptance is the key to my relationship with God.

Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.

Alcoholism is a disease and not a moral failing.

You are not responsible for your disease but you are responsible for your recovery.

I had the idea that if I could just control the external environment then my internal environment would be okay.

Work the Steps and let the external environment take care of itself.

My mind magnified whatever I focused on.

When I focused on what’s good today I have a good day. When I focus on the problem, the problem increases. When I focus on the answer, the answer increases.

My serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations.

I must keep my magic magnifying mind on acceptance.

I’m amazed at how many of my problems, many of which had nothing to do with drinking, became manageable or simply went away.
