Wisdom from Meetings II

If you are having a good day, great! This is where life can be easy and joyous and will happen more and more. If you are having a neutral day then you're breaking even at the least but remember that every day clean and sober makes you ever stronger. If you are having a tough day then you get the opportunity to experience the challenges that help us grow and make us stronger. If we can hold this mindset then we always end each day better and stronger. We just sometimes need to gently remind ourselves or be reminded of this fact. We can choose to progress, become more resilient, and more able to help our fellow human beings - we can choose to always end up ahead.

If I don’t like how my day is going, I get to stop and restart my day any time I want.

Find those things within yourself, and something greater than yourself, that keeps you moving forward and from taking steps backward - something purer, more vital, more real than material goods or the ego.

I now look at difficulties as challenges and opportunities and no longer as difficulties. Simply changing the words I use in my self-talk can change me from becoming defensive to becoming open.

I move away from excuses and into acceptance and solutions.

Anxiety tends to make things bigger than they are.

Some of the worst things in my life never happened.

You will gain renewed self-esteem, contentment, and serenity. You never have to be alone again. As long as you stay clean and try to grow, life will unfailingly get better and better.

I live my life day to day. The past is the past. Learn from it and then let go. The future isn’t here – dream big and plan but then turn control over. What we have is right now. Don’t miss out on it by living in the past or the future.

It’s not forever, it’s just for today. That doesn’t mean we don’t set goals – we do! It means not living emotionally beyond the 24 hours we’re in.

Walk through your emotions. Don’t deny them but have faith that things are good on the other side. We will get frustrated and sad at times but this will pass more and more quickly and they will lose their power over you.

Understand your emotions. Identify what you’re afraid of losing or what you’re afraid you might not get in the future that you think you need. Dispute irrational, unhealthy, unhelpful thoughts.
